About IOA
IOA is a voluntary coalition of International Optoelectronics Associations. Members have corporate membership of OE industry (as opposed to individual membership like OSA), they are national organizations (as opposed to a regional cluster), they represent the voice of industry to the national governments, collect OE market information, and generate OE technology roadmaps. Membership is by invitation only.
Current members include:
- Australian Industry Group – AIG
- Canadian Photonics Consortium – CPC
- European Photonics Industry Consortium – EPIC
- Hong Kong Optoelectronics Association – HKOEA
- Korea Association for Photonics Industry Development – KAPID
- OpTech-Net (Germany)
- Optoelectronic Industry and Technology Development Association – OITDA (Japan)
- Optoelectronics Industry Development Association – OIDA (North America)
- Photonics Industry and Technology Development Association – PIDA (Taiwan)
- Scottish Optoelectronics Association – SOA
- Swiss Laser Network – SLN
The 16th IOA Annual Meeting will be held in Geneva, Switzerland in September of 2011
(in conjunction with ECOC 2011)
Membership meetings occur once a year in connection with a major international meeting, symposium, or exhibit. The location of the meeting alternates among member locations and among participating continents. The local association hosts the meeting; the official language is English.
The meeting agenda usually follows the following format:
- Production trends in optoelectronics (domestic and global, if available).
- Activity report of each organization, including areas of emphasis, new national initiatives, promotion of optoelectronics, etc.
- Future growth areas in optoelectronics and most promising areas for R&D.
- Technology roadmaps, including a summary and major conclusions of each roadmap.
